The good news is you do not need to be an expert, and you certainly do not need millimetre precision. A simple sketch with measurements, a plan from your kitchen supplier, or even just your worktop lengths is enough for an accurate estimate.
Bring it along to our North Shields showroom and we can talk through materials, finishes and budget all in one visit. This guide walks you through exactly what to jot down so your estimate is as accurate as possible.
You do not need to be precise. This plan is for an estimate, and we template your kitchen to the millimetre once you place an order.
Nothing fancy. Most of it you will already have in a kitchen drawer.
Work through these in order and you will have everything we need.
Draw a simple bird's-eye view of where your worktops will sit. An L-shape, U-shape or a single straight run, whatever fits your room. It does not need to be to scale. Clear is better than pretty.
Letter your worktop sections (Run A, Run B and so on). This makes your measurements easy to read and easy for us to talk through with you.
Run your tape along each wall, ideally starting from a corner. Note the length of every straight section separately. Millimetres or centimetres are both fine, just tell us which you have used.
Most base units are around 600mm deep and worktops usually overhang the front slightly. A simple note such as "standard 600mm units" is plenty. We confirm the exact overhang at the template stage.
Show roughly where each one sits along the run. If you know the models, jot them down, and let us know whether your sink is under-mounted or sat on top. Drainer grooves? Tell us which side.
Mark where the dishwasher, washing machine, oven and fridge will go. This helps us plan joins and supports in the right places.
Sketch these separately with their own measurements. If you would like an overhang for seating, tell us roughly how much and we will advise on what the stone can support.
Let us know which walls you would like a matching stone upstand or splashback against. It is an easy detail to forget, but it lifts the finished look.
A handful of photos of the space, alongside your sketch, give us brilliant context. Bring them on your phone or print them out.

Your plan gives us everything we need for an accurate estimate. If you are happy to go ahead and place an order, we then book a digital template that captures your kitchen to the millimetre, and that is what your worktops are fabricated from.

No. Rough but clear measurements are all we need for an accurate estimate. We carry out our own millimetre-accurate digital template once you place an order, so there is no pressure to get it perfect at this stage.
A quick hand-drawn sketch with rough sizes is plenty. If you only have your worktop lengths, bring those, and we can work from there.
Either is fine. Just make a note of which one you have used so there is no confusion when we work out your estimate.
Normally it stays exactly the same. The price only changes if you add design elements that were not part of the original discussion, and if that happens we will always notify you and talk through the options before going ahead.
Yes, that is ideal. A supplier or CAD drawing gives us clear sizes and layout to estimate from. Just bring it along to your visit.
