The surface is used every day — for food preparation, family meals, morning coffee and everything in between — so the choice of material and the quality of the fit have a lasting effect on how your kitchen looks and works.
At Traditional Masonry we supply and install stone worktops in granite, quartz, marble and ceramic across Newcastle, North Tyneside and the wider North East. Every worktop is measured, cut and finished in our own workshop — no subcontractors, no middlemen — and our fitting team installs to a consistent standard on every job.
Our own team templates, fabricates and installs — always.
From template to fitted in under two weeks as standard.

A family business established in 2004 — still the same values.
We work with four core worktop materials — each suited to different kitchens, different budgets and different levels of upkeep. Click any material to read the full guide.
Hard, heat-tolerant and genuinely unique. The original kitchen worktop — and still one of the best for busy homes.
View granite → Engineered StoneNon-porous, virtually maintenance-free, vast colour range. The most popular choice for modern kitchens across the North East.
View quartz → Natural StoneTimeless veining and quiet luxury. A material that rewards careful ownership with decades of character and beauty.
View marble → Sintered StoneThe most heat-resistant surface we supply. UV-stable and available in ultra-thin 6mm formats — ideal for outdoor kitchens.
View ceramic →Whether you're fitting stone worktops into a brand new kitchen or replacing existing surfaces in a renovation, the process is the same: a precise digital template, careful fabrication in our workshop, and a clean installation by our own team on a date that works for you.
Worktop replacement is one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to refresh a kitchen without replacing the cabinetry. We remove the existing surface and install the new one with minimal disruption — most jobs are complete in a day, and you're back to a working kitchen by evening.
We cover Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland and County Durham — and for larger commercial projects, further afield.
A stone worktop isn't just a slab. The edge profile, sink type, drainer groove and splashback all shape how the finished kitchen looks and works. Every detail is designed around your kitchen and your brief.
Pencil, bullnose, ogee, chamfered, mitred, waterfall and more — all finished by hand in our North Shields workshop. The profile you choose changes the character of the worktop as much as the material itself.
Undermount, Belfast, inset or recessed drainer — all cut to a precise fit as part of fabrication. Tap holes, overflow channels and drainage grooves all handled to your specification.
Full-height stone splashbacks and matching upstands for a seamless, continuous surface behind the hob or along the full run of the kitchen. Particularly striking in large-format ceramic and veined marble.
A mitred waterfall end panel takes the worktop surface vertically down to the floor, creating a furniture-quality statement piece. A popular choice for kitchen islands in quartz and granite.
Induction, gas and ceramic hobs all need precisely measured apertures. We cut these in-house to the manufacturer's specifications, with a polished or chamfered reveal as required.
Window sills, breakfast bars, feature islands cut in one piece, and other non-standard shapes. If you can sketch it, we can usually make it. See our bespoke work →
Every worktop starts with a site visit. We use specialist digital measuring equipment to template your exact layout — including every angle, cut-out, and radius — before a single piece of stone is touched. This stage determines everything that follows, and it's where twenty years of experience makes a real difference.
Fabrication takes place in our North Shields workshop using state-of-the-art CNC machinery and hand finishing by our stonemasons. All joints are checked before leaving the workshop. Our fitting team installs to the same standard on every project, large or small.
A clear, four-stage process managed entirely by our own team — from your first visit to the day your new worktops are fitted.

Yes — worktop replacement is one of the most common projects we carry out. We remove the existing surface and install the new one with minimal disruption, usually within a day. It's one of the most cost-effective ways to refresh a kitchen, and we're experienced at working carefully around existing units and appliances.
Quartz and granite are the most popular choices for busy family kitchens. Quartz is non-porous and needs no sealing, making it extremely low-maintenance. Granite is harder and more heat-resistant, with natural character that improves with age. Ceramic is the toughest option overall. We're happy to talk through the options for your specific kitchen — there's no single right answer.
We offer a full supply and installation service — template, fabrication and fit — all carried out by our own team with no subcontractors. You deal with the same people from your showroom visit right through to the day your worktops are fitted.
Yes — undermount sinks are one of the most popular choices with stone worktops and we cut and finish the aperture to a precise fit as part of the fabrication process. We can also accommodate Belfast sinks, recessed drainers and tap holes to any specification.
The same materials and the same standard of work across every application we take on.
